Jokowi Instructs Military, Police to Master AI, Blockchain

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo instructed the Indonesian Military and Police personnel to master technology, such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, digital design, up to blockchain. The statement was made during the joint meeting of the two institutions this morning, March 1.
“Crimes may shift from conventional ones to those related to digital, and now they have even happened,” said the President, Tuesday.
He said the military and police must have talents or members who have digital skills. He even asked the top security forces to look for parties who are expertise in this field.
“All [digital capabilities] must be owned and started, digital talents must be sought,” he added.
During the meeting, the President also talked of many things, starting from world crises, particularly the war in Ukraine, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 4.0 industrial revolution which cause impacts on Indonesia.
Additionally, he mentioned that the Indonesian government planned to start reducing exports of raw materials to neighboring countries and replace them with semi-finished products.
Jokowi also discussed the new state capital project that is currently running. According to him, the project was carried out for economic and development equality in Indonesia.
