TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the government will not restrict groups of people willing to reside in the future state capital (IKN) in Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan. According to him, all people have the right to live in the new capital.
“All citizens have the right to move anywhere, [including] to IKN. There are no restrictions,” said Basuki in a discussion with RRI, Wednesday, Feb. 23.
The new capital, he went on, will be an inclusive city that welcomes anyone. Thus, the design of the city buildings involves many parties—including the construction of government offices.
The government will build IKN until 2045. According to the minister, in the first phase, the government will build residential and commercial areas in the central government core area (KIPP) which includes three clusters, namely a government center, an education center, and a health center.
The KIPP construction will take place from 2022 to 2024. In line with the development of the core area, the government will bring state civil servants from several ministries and institutions to IKN, as well as security personnel. “Residential complexes for ASN will be prepared,” said Basuki.
