'Investing is Understanding, Not Speculating' Says Minister in Blockchain Event

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno in attending the Bali Blockchain Conference on Tuesday expressed hope for the conference to establish business opportunities from the development of the digital economy, which he believes will be able to boost the creative economy MSMEs.
"Bali Blockchain opens up opportunities for us to bridge, not only for the upper middle class, but MSMEs with blockchain technology to participate," said the Minister at the event held in Nusa Dua, Bali, on February 22, Antaranews reported.
However, he advised people to study and understand what they intend to invest in and avert from speculating, which is why he believes is where the government’s role comes into the picture to disseminate and educate the public about blockchain and its instruments, such as cryptocurrency.
“There is the aspect of speculation sometimes, but I often remind people that investments are not about speculation. Investing is discerning the new technology,” he said. “The government is present to support and educate people on the opportunities and risks [in blockchain].”
