TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign tourists arriving in Bali are now subjected to a required Covid-19 quarantine process upon arrival with the government offering two hotel quarantine options; bubble and non-bubble formats. This will also apply to Indonesians who return from overseas travel.
This was revealed by Bali deputy governor Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati in a meeting with the Bali Regional Council (DPRD) at Denpasar on February 21, Antaranews reported.
“International travelers can quarantine at hotels with bubble and non-bubble systems,” the deputy said.
The bubble system allows foreign tourists to do activities outside the room but can still remain in the quarantine hotel area allowing foreign tourists to swim, learn about local cultural activities, and exercise under strict health protocols.
Meanwhile, the non-bubble option subjects foreign tourists strictly to hotel room confinement. “Currently, Bali has 65 quarantine hotels and 27 of them are bubble system quarantine hotels. This gives an option or choice to international travelers or foreign tourists," he added.
Bali opened its international border on February 4, with the island’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai airport serving flights from Singapore Airlines. Three additional international air carriers have filed for permits to land at the island since its opening.
