Bank Indonesia: e-Money Transaction Value Grows 66.65% in January

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) said that electronic money transactions value grew 66.65 percent (yoy) to reach Rp34.6 trillion in January. Digital banking transaction value also grew, by 62.82 percent (yoy) to Rp4,314.3 trillion.
Meanwhile, circulating currency (UYD) in January 2022 increased by 10.21 percent (yoy) to Rp885.2 trillion.
The central bank said that the digital economy and financial transactions are growing rapidly, along with the public's increasing acceptance and preference for online shopping, the expansion and convenience of digital payment systems, and the acceleration of digital banking.
"Bank Indonesia will continue to accelerate the digitization of the payment system to promote economic recovery as well as an inclusive and efficient economy and finance," BI Governor Perry Warjiyo at a press conference Thursday, February 10.
Perry said BI will continue to push innovation and maintain a smooth and reliable payment system. Bank Indonesia also encourages BI-FAST participants to expand services and continue the development of BI-FAST phase 1 phase 2.
The central bank will follow up on the inter-nations QRIS trials with Thailand and Malaysia, as well as explore the expansion of QRIS cooperation between countries in the region.
