TEMPO.CO, JakartaStatistics Indonesia (BPS) of Papua Province stated that the regional economy recorded a growth of 15.11 percent in 2021.

The Head of BPS Papua Adriana Helena Carolina said the regional economy was measured based on the volume of the gross domestic product (GDP), which is based in turn on prices valid in 2021 and based on constant prices in 2010. The figures reached Rp235.34 trillion and Rp158.61 trillion, respectively.

“On the production side, the largest growth is supported by the mining and excavation business sector up to 40.80 percent,” said Adriana in a press release in Jayapura, Monday, Feb. 7.

Meanwhile on the spending side, she added, the highest growth was contributed by exports at 105.14 percent.

“The Papua’s economy in the fourth quarter of 2021 grew by 17.16 percent when compared to that in the same period in 2020 (yoy),” she informed.

Adriana went on to outline that on the production side, the transportation and warehouse business sector contributed the highest growth at 37.68 percent, while on the spending side, the gross fixed capital formation (PMTB) saw the highest growth at 24.28 percent.
