TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Face-to-face learning or PTM in Jakarta will be implemented at 50 percent capacity starting tomorrow, Feb. 4. The city administration made the decision following the step taken by the Ministry of Education and Culture which allows regions in PPKM Level 2 to regulate PTM due to rising COVID-19 cases.
“This afternoon, the education unit for PAUD, TK, SD, SMP, SMA carried out dissemination to school principals throughout the region. In the evening, the Head of the regional education sub-unit also conducted dissemination. The principals then inform parents through WhatsApp groups,” said the Jakarta Education Agency’s spokesman Taga Radja Gah to Tempo, Thursday, Feb. 3.
Taga explained that his side is determined to immediately implement a 50 percent PTM starting tomorrow and will not wait until Monday next week. When asked about the period, Taga claimed he could not yet confirm it as it depends on the number of COVID-19 cases.
“I don't know [until when], but hopefully it will be finished by February,” Taga added.
The 50 percent PTM method, he went on, will be implemented the same as before. However, parents are now allowed to determine whether their children will take part in learning activities at school or online.
Taga said that the parents will just need to fill out a form to decide the matter because what is important is that the number of students attending the school does not exceed 50 percent of the capacity.
