Yogyakarta Stops 100 Percent Physical Attendance Schooling

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Special Region of Yogyakarta administration has decided to temporarily stop the 100 percent physical attendance schooling (PTM) following a massive Covid-19 spread that happened at the end of January.
As of Wednesday, February 2, the local government has issued a circular letter to each and every high school and vocational schools ordering these academic institutions to evaluate and reduce the percentage of its classroom schooling.
“Evaluation of this PTM is related to the growth in Covid-19 cases among students,” said head of the Yogyakarta spokesperson Ditya Nanaryo Aji on February 2, “It is likely a 50 percent capacity will be implemented and will be separated into shifts and reduction of school hours.”
One of the cases that has grabbed the local Covid-19 task force’s attention is the PTM cluster from a school in the region of Sleman, which according to the latest data, continues to grow from 43 to 60 cases.
However, Aji said a 100 percent physical attendance schooling can continue as long as the number of students present are limited and implements proper physical distancing measures.
