TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo inspected the construction site for the nation's new capital city in East Kalimantan on Saturday to check and anticipate any foreseeable disturbances and obstacles in the future.

According to Prabowo, the inspection was a form of the National Police's (Polri) support for the new capital's development.

"We want to know the condition on the field, and then we can help the construction progress so that it can run as planned," he added, according to a written release.

During his visit, he directly observed the current conditions at the new capital's site in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan.

"Of course, we want to know the condition directly on the field, regarding the schedule, whether there's an obstacle or not," he explained.

The National Police chief also gave directions to his staff to anticipate various problems that could arise during construction.

According to him, the presence of obstacles and problems during construction is inevitable.

"However, those problems can be resolved through deliberation so that, in general, there would be no significant obstacles in the progress of the new capital's development," he said.

He then asked all parties to support the development of the new capital. He expressed the hope that stakeholders would work according to their respective duties and functions to ensure the smooth running of the new capital's development.

According to Prabowo, the new capital's development is part of the government's efforts to improve equity and reduce inequality among Indonesians.

"We see that the new capital city has a smart forest concept and that is in line with what has become an international agreement, in which the capital city development plan will have an environmentally friendly vision and become a hope and can be a source of pride for all of us," he remarked.
