Among them were Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Suharso Monoarfa, Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, and Finance Deputy Minister Suahasil Nazara.
They came to the project site while accompanying People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) speaker Bambang Soesatyo and a number of deputy speakers, including Ahmad Basarah, Ahmad Muzani, Lestari Moerdijat, Jazilul Fawaid, Fadel Muhammad, and Arsul Sani.
“We review vital points for the location of the state capital (IKN) development in Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan,” as quoted from Bappenas' official statement, Thursday, January 27.
These locations include the zero point of the capital city construction, the State Palace, and the MPR, DPR, and DPD complex buildings. They also visited Sepaku Semoi Dam, which holds back the water from Tengin River and will supply water for the new capital city and Balikpapan.
In the plenary session on January 18, the House of Representatives (DPR) approved the bill on the state capital to be subsequently ratified by President Joko Widodo or Jokowi into law.
