55 Drug Convicts from Banten Prisons Transferred to Nusakambangan

TEMPO.CO, Serang - Banten Regional Office of the Law and Human Rights Ministry transferred 55 drug convicts to Nusakambangan Prison, Cilacap, Central Java. They were among 58 inmates categorized as high-risk prisoners.
The ministry’s Banten Regional Office Head Tejo Harwanto said the transfer of high-risk inmates to the super maximum security prison was aimed at minimizing disturbances in security and order, as well as eradicating illegal drugs trafficking in prisons.
“[This is] one form of the Banten Regional Office's commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and minimizing security and order issues,” said Tejo in Serang, Wednesday, January 26.
The transfer took place at 11 p.m. Tuesday, January 25. “The transfer is carried out while implementing the health protocols and the antigen test is taken to comply with the health protocol,” said Tejo.
The transfer of 55 drug convicts was launched following the escape of a drug convict Adami bin Musa in December 2021. Adami who was sentenced to 22 years behind bars escaped from Tangerang prison and has not been found yet.
