Earthquake Hits Mataram This Morning; Tremor Reaches Bali

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A tectonic earthquake rocked Mataram and several areas in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and Bali this morning, January 25, 2022. The quake was reportedly centered on land, ten kilometers southeast of West Lombok, NTB.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency or BMKG recorded that the quake occurred at 04:14:14 Western Indonesian Time (WIB) measuring at a magnitude of 4.6. Coming from a depth of 10 kilometers, the tremor was felt the strongest at an intensity of IV on the MMI scale in Mataram.
The BMKG also noted that weaker tremors were felt in Denpasar, Badung, Padangbai and Karangasem in Bali, as well as West Lombok, Central Lombok, North Lombok and East Lombok in NTB. All of them were recorded at an intensity of III on the MMI scale.
