KPK Probes Alleged ASN Funds Deduction by Bekasi Mayor

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has questioned several witnesses to further investigate the alleged Civil Servants (ASN) funds deduction by the currently inactive Bekasi Mayor, Rahmat Effendi, for procurement of items and services as well as job auction in Bekasi Municipal Government.
"The witnesses came and were questioned about the alleged flows of funds for suspect RE from Bekasi ASN fund deduction either directly ordered by the suspect or others on his behalf," said KPK spokesman Ali Fikri in his statement on Monday, January 24.
The said witnesses are the sub-districts Heads, and the head and staff of Bekasi Municipal Govt. Legal Division. Additionally, KPK also questioned Marketing Director of PT MAM Energiondo, Nasori for his involvement. "The concern was present and confirmed about his involvement in the alleged project."
Currently, the commission has determined 9 suspects, Rahmad included and during the case's reconstruction explained the altered Regional Budget for 2021 is to compensate for land worth of IDR 286.5 billion.
For his involvement in the land projects, Rahmat Effendi allegedly chose lands owned by private companies and asked for funds from the compensated companies and handed the money to his men.
Furthermore, he also allegedly received his cuts from some employees in the municipal office.
