TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria on Monday said the city administration’s 100 percent physical attendance schooling policy or PTM followed what the central government had instructed but remained open to suggestions.
This came after 43 schools in Jakarta logged COVID-19 cases during the 100 percent physical schooling policy.
“We will always consider, monitor, and evaluate the 100 percent PTM,” said the Deputy Governor on January 24.
Schools that are permitted to conduct physical sessions are those located in regions classified at Level 2 or Level 2 provincial pandemic. Jakarta is currently at Level 2. Other requirements include 80 percent and above vaccination rates for academic workers and 50 percent or above for elderly people.
“The vaccination rates for teachers currently exceed 91 percent while vaccinations for the elderly are over 71 percent. Student vaccinations have even recorded 98 percent, which means Jakarta meets the requirements,” said Patria.
During the enactment of the physical schooling sessions in Jakarta, 67 students, two teachers, and three education workers were exposed to COVID-19. All of these cases are spread across 43 schools with 28 of them reopened after temporarily closing its facilities.
