TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki said that the G20 event, held from December 1, 2021 to November 31, 2022, will bring benefits to MSMEs. The event, he said, could bring trillions in domestic consumption and create tens of thousands of new jobs.
"The G20 has the potential to create 33,000 new jobs with a consumption value of Rp1.7 trillion," Teten said in Jakarta, Thursday, January 20.
Indonesia will host the G20 conference by holding 150 activities comprising 49 main and 111 side events.
The conference will be attended by 20,988 delegates who will arrive in Indonesia with their staff and/or family members, potentially bringing up to 83,000 people to the country.
To support the implementation of the G20, Teten has issued a Decree on the establishment of the 2022 G20 Presidency Program and Activities Committee within the Cooperatives and SME Ministry.
The formation of the committee is designed to optimize the role of Indonesian cooperatives and MSMEs in the implementation of the G20 presidency.
"We are making sure that [the G20 Presidency] will provide benefits for Indonesian MSMEs," said Teten.
Teten added that his ministry is initiating a collaboration with related parties, so that official merchandises of the G20 are sourced from Indonesia's finest MSMEs as curated by the ministry.
