Jakarta to Face Apindo Lawsuit over 2022 Minimum Wage

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Jakarta legal bureau Yayan Yuhanah on Wednesday said the Jakarta administration will face the lawsuit filed by the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) on the 2022 provincial minimum wage.
“We will face the lawsuit, we will not run away. [The lawsuit] will be faced no matter who the plaintiff is,” said Yuhanah on January 19.
Yuhana assures that there will be no mediation in the legal proceedings filed at the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN) as the option of mediation can only be done when a case is filed at the District Court.
As previously reported, the Jakarta branch of Apindo will challenge the revised provincial minimum wage overseen by Jakarta Governor’s regulation issued by Governor Anies Baswedan. The governor increased the minimum wage significantly above what the central government had set, and no Apindo aims to have the governor’s regulation revoked.
Governor Baswedan increased the minimum wage for 2022 by 5.1 percent, which is a significant rise from what the central government had set at 0.85 percent.
