  • TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi talked about the rising Covid-19 cases caused by the Omicron variant transmission. Two days ago, the number of daily Covid cases in Indonesia reached 1,054. The last time the number reached 1,000 was on October 14, last year.

Therefore, the President reminded people to limit outdoor activities. "If there are no urgent matters, it is better to reduce activities in the crowd. For those who can work from home, please do so," said Jokowi as broadcasted on the Presidential Secretariat Youtube channel on Tuesday, January 18.

President Joko Widodo also asked people to refrain from traveling abroad if there are no urgent matters. "I will continue to remind people to uphold health protocol, wear masks, maintain distance and wash hands."

He also reminded people to get vaccinated against Covid-19. "For those who have received the first dose, go get the second one. And those who have received the second dose, get the third or booster one. All free because this is for the safety of all of us," the president remarked.
