TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) has officially passed the Capital City Bill (RUU IKN) into law during the 13th plenary meeting on January 18, which was led by House Speaker Puan Maharani and signed by 276 House members.

This was taken in parallel to the hearing from political party factions on the sexual violence crime eradication (TPKS), which resulted in the TPKS becoming an official DPR proposal.

The capital city draft Article 1 (1) has officially set the name of the new capital city as Nusantara and appointed it to become a regional government at the level of a provincial government. The Nusantara capital city will become a place for the implementation of central government activities, as well as the location for foreign country representatives and representatives of international organizations/institutions.

The government body that will be responsible for governing this new capital city is the Nusantara Authority which will be led by an authority head and deputy who will be appointed, inaugurated, and terminated directly by the President, and after consulting with the House.

Nusantara authority head and deputy head will govern for 5 years.

Meanwhile, the borderline for the new capital city will be adjacent to the North Penajam Paser, Balikpapan Bay, West Balikpapan, North Balikpapan, and East Balikpapan subdistricts. To the west, the State Capital is bordered by Loa Kulu Subdistrict, Kutai Kartanegara Regency and Sepaku Subdistrict, North Penajam Paser Regency and in the east by the Makassar Strait.
