M5.0 Earthquake Hits Melonguane In North Sulawesi's

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A magnitude 5.0 earthquake shook northwest of Melonguane, North Sulawesi on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 10:20:40 WIB (Western Indonesia Time).
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the earthquake originated from the coordinates of 5.18 North Latitude-126.33 East Longitude.
"136 kilometers northwest of Melonguane, North Sulawesi," the BMKG wrote on its Twitter account while the source of the quake was detected to come from a depth of 94 kilometers.
This earthquake did not trigger a tsunami. However, the BMKG continues to give alert warnings to local residents regarding the aftershocks.
Fortunately, no tsunami warnings were triggered by the earthquake and encouraged people to be aware of aftershocks.
