Extreme Weather for the Rest of the Week, BMKG Warns

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) announced an early extreme weather warning that would dampen a large portion of Indonesian regions due growing potential for rainfall caused by the movement of cold air mass.
The agency also warned about the Equatorial Rossby Wave in a number of regions which will significantly increase the chances of extreme weather within the rest of this week.
BMKG early warning on Tuesday, January 18, is issued for Aceh, Riau, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Banten, Jakarta Central Java, East Java, Bali, East and West Nusa Tenggara, all of Kalimantan, up to Papua and West Papua.
People are urged to stay alert on extreme weather happening during this period such as tornadoes, heavy rainfall, and ice storms.
