M5.4 Earthquake Hits Southwest Off Coast of Banten

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in its Twitter update on Monday morning announced that the Lebak Regency in Banten was hit by a magnitude 5.4 earthquake at 07:25 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
The agency’s data reveals that the quake originated from roughly 84 kilometers Southwest off the coast of Bayah and recorded a hypocenter of 10 kilometers below ocean surface.
A number of tweets from locals at Pangandaran and Bogor reported that the earthquake was felt in the aforementioned regions. The agency announced that the earthquake did not trigger the tsunami early warning system but warned that aftershocks may follow.
