TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - On January 14, 2022, The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) announced that the earthquake that was felt in Jakarta was originated from 52 kilometers Southwest off the coast of Sumur, Banten, which is 141 kilometers southwest of Jakarta.
The agency said the quake was measured at magnitude 6.7 and reached the capital city at 16:00 Western Indonesia Time.
The specific origins of the quake is at 7.01 south latitude and 105.26 east longitude and at the depth of 10 kilometers.
Fortunately, BMKG reported via Twitter that the earthquake will not potentially cause a tsunami.
