TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government plans to provide a booster vaccine for people aged 18 years and over, in addition to the elderly and vulnerable groups, in early February.

"Probably February," The Health Ministry's Covid-19 Vaccination spokesperson Siti Nadia Tarmizi said via text message, Wednesday night, January 12.

Booster vaccinations for the elderly are carried out simultaneously in all districts or cities starting yesterday, Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

"This will take place throughout the year because the distance from a complete dose of primary vaccination is at least 6 months," said Nadia.

Boosters are only available in areas where at least 70 percent of its 18-above population receiving the first primary dose, and 50 percent for people age 60 and over. The Health Ministry's data as of January 11, 2022 showed there are 273 districts/cities that met the requirements.

Booster vaccine recipients must register with the PeduliLindungi application to get an e-ticket. Then they can visit the nearest health facility to get a booster vaccination.
