TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - The Tangerang Regency Government started administering the booster vaccine today, January 13th. The regency is targeting to give booster jabs to 105,000 senior citizens age 60 and above.

The local Satgas Covid-19 spokesman Hendra Tarmizi said that they are giving Pfizer boosters in five sub-districts today: Balaraja, Tigaraksa, Pasarkemis, Cikupa and Panongan. "One hundred people per each district," he said.

According to Hendra, the Tangerang Regency has received 80,000 doses of Pfizer from the Banten Provincial Health Office.

"Because the booster vaccine just arrived last night, today's vaccine rollout can only be administered in five sub-districts. On Friday, tomorrow, we will roll-out the boosters in 29 sub-districts," he said.

For Friday, the target is to inoculate 500 people per sub-district.

Tangerang Regency is prioritizing to give boosters to 300,000 elderly residents. However, only 105,000 people have qualified to receive the booster vaccine, which is having their second doses at least six months ago.

From the 105,000 elderly, Hendra said that around 27,000 will receive either Pfizer or AstraZeneca as their boosters on Thursday and Friday.
