TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Jakarta Health Agency Widyastuti on Wednesday said the city has logged an increasing number of active and daily Covid-19 cases which are dominated by international travelers.

She explained that 74 percent of active cases and 81 percent of daily cases in Jakarta come from people who had traveled abroad.

“We must beware of transmissions,” the Health Agency Head wrote in a statement on January 5.

According to her, the number of Covid-19 active cases up to January 5 reached 955 with 706 of them being patients who had just arrived from another country. New additional cases amount to 259 with 211 of them from travelers.

Active cases are currently treated at the Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital, Sulianti Saroso Infectious Disease Hospital, and other appointed hospitals.

In terms of Omicron transmission in Jakarta, she revealed that 95 percent of 239 out of 251 new infections came from people who traveled abroad while the rest were identified as local transmission.
