TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The forum for former non-ministerial government institutions (LPNK) assessed that the policy on the integration of research institutions enforced by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) head Laksana Tri Handoko did not reflect human values.
“In its implementation, the integration process creates chaos, which is caused by the leadership of LTH as the BRIN head,” said the former head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Lukman Hakim in a press conference today, January 5.
The forum consists of a number of senior researchers and former leaders of LPNK that are integrated into BRIN, namely LIPI, BATAN, LAPAN, BPPT, and Eijkman, as well as the Research and Technology Ministry.
Lukman said the integration policy resulted in the dismissal of more than 2,000 non-civil servants or non-PNS employees. The current case, he added, was similar to when Laksana became a leader at LIPI back in 2018. At that time, he fired many contract employees.
According to Lukman, the BRIN head also took a unilateral policy and closed the door for discussions with the agency’s employees. In fact, he continued, Laksana neglected the policy line of the national leadership regarding the implementation of science and technology and innovation.
