Domestic Air Passengers Up 19 Percent in November 2021

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded domestic air passengers in November 2021 reached 3.5 million, up by 19.81 percent from the previous month.

“Increased passengers took place at all monitored airports,” said BPS Head Margo Yuwono in a virtual press conference on Monday, January 3, 2022.

Medan’s Kualanamu Airport posted an increase of 23.26 percent, Denpasar’s Ngurah Rai Airport with 21.92 percent, Surabaya’s Juanda Airport with 20.43 percent, Banten’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport with 18.28 percent, and Makassar’s Hassanudin Airport with 14.72 percent.

The highest number of passengers was recorded at Soekarno-Hatta Airport with 975,000 people or 29.90 percent of the total domestic passengers, followed by Juanda Airport with 278.8,000 or 7.98 percent.

Meanwhile, domestic air passengers during January-November 2021 hit 26.1 million, down by 9.26 percent from the same period last year of 28.7 million people.

Most of the passengers were recorded at Soekarno-Hatta Airport with 6.8 million people or 25.90 percent of the total domestic air passengers, followed by Juanda Airport with 2.2 million or 8.31 percent.
