TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) is set to contest Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan at the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN) over the changes to the 2022 provincial minimum wage (UMP) introduced by the governor.

Inshaallah, we will take legal actions through the PTUN and other legal attempts,” said the Jakarta Apindo deputy Nurjaman in a press conference held virtually on December 30.

Previously, Anies Baswedan revised Jakarta’s minimum wage in 2022 from what was initially agreed on 0.85 percent increase to 5.11 percent. The initial increase below 1 percent is overseen by Government Regulation No 36/2021 on wages, which is a derivative from the Job Creation Act.

Baswedan then revised this by issuing a Governor’s Decree No. 1517/2021 on the 2022 minimum wage.

The governor’s decree is what Apindo finds troubling, arguing that it does not have a clear legal basis. The Jakarta Apindo deputy called for employers to pay the wages of their workers under the initial 2022 minimum wage, which will only see an increase of Rp37,000.
