TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Formula E managing director Gunung Kartiko, who is also the Jakpro director of asset management, said the construction of the racing series’ circuit at Ancol is expected to cost around Rp100 billion. The circuit will also be named the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit.
Kartiko, made it clear that the funding source to build the street circuit will not be sourced from the Jakarta Regional Budget (APBD).
In welcoming a visit from the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD), Kartiko said, “it will utilize funding from sponsors,” Antaranews reported on December 29.
City legislators paid a visit to the future circuit’s location in a mission to confirm that construction will not use a penny from the APBD. “As long as it does not use the APBD,” said Commission B Secretary Pandapotan Sinaga.
The Formula E circuit is expected to complete within three months or in April 2022. It will have a length of 2.4 kilometers and a width of 12 meters at the Eastern side of the Ancol area. The recently built Jakarta International Stadium is designed to be in the background of the circuit once the construction is complete.
