TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Sepatan Tangerang Police Chief, Oki Bekti Wibowo, has been terminated from the police force after a random drug test conducted by the Tangerang Metro Police found positive traces of crystal meth in his urine sample in the form of amphetamine and methamphetamine.
Metro Jaya Police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Endra Zulpan confirmed this on Wednesday, Dec. 29. “The person involved as of today has been stripped off of his position and has been transferred to the Metro Jaya Police for further investigation.”
Zulpan revealed that the former police chief is currently detained by the Metro Jaya internal affairs. The first suspicion of the former police chief’s drug abuse came after a Sepatan Police personnel was absent during a shift on Christmas eve. He was then asked to supply a urine sample for drug tests, which came back positive.
This led the police to probe Oki Bekti Wibowo, and eventually uncover the truth. Both Oki and one of his subordinates has been transferred to Jakarta Metro Police. They are officially left with no official positions and are set to undergo a code of ethics trial.
