The health ministry's spokesman for Covid-19 vaccination, Siti Nadia Tarmidzi, said the new finding of Omicron cases was based on the Whole Genome Sequencing test.

"Especially for the patients who are the travelers that tested positive [for Covid-19], so the mitigation can be executed immediately," said Nadia in a written statement on Friday, Dec. 24.

She calls on the public to stand guard of the quick transmission of the Omicron variant. Nadia also asks the people to postpone international trips, maintain the health protocol, and immediately get vaccinated.

“There must be a self awareness to refrain from traveling abroad. Especially in the moment of Christmas and New Year's holidays, it is important for us to protect each other,” Nadia remarked.
