TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State airport operator Angkasa Pura II recorded a significant increase in the number of passengers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. For several times over the past two weeks, the daily traffic reached 100,000 people per day.
"This is the highest figure in the two years of the Covid-19 pandemic," the airport's senior manager for branch communication and legal M. Holik Muardi told Tempo on Thursday, December 23.
However, Holik said that the passengers' traffic still fluctuates. The 100,000 passengers per day only happened several times over the past two weeks.
On average, the movement of domestic and international passengers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is around 80,000 to 85,000 per day.
"This is higher than before, which was 50,000 to 70,000 passengers per day," Holik said.
Meanwhile, the airport's Covid-19 Task Force commander, Col. Agus Listiyono, said that the increase in international passengers' traffic has started ahead of Christmas week, averaging 3,000 to 4,000 passengers per day. He said that some 70 percent of international arrivals are migrant workers.
