TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati cited a study by the University of Liverpool stating that countries being led by women tend to do better during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Women tend to present additional perspectives in policy,” said Sri at the Capital Market Women Empowerment Forum which was held virtually in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 22.
This additional perspective, according to Sri, is the fruit of women's sensitivity which then affects the quality of policy.
She also opined that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has been far greater for women. So that policies with women’s perspectives that are much more comprehensive and have more affirmations amid the pandemic are necessary.
Sri said this further proved that in making decisions, both at the corporate and state level, women can provide additional perspectives, “and perfection in terms of looking at the problems and impacts of the policy.” She hoped the roles of women and men could be more equal in the future.
