TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Directorate General of Immigration has issued tourist visas as the government reopened the country’s borders to international visitors from 19 countries since October 2021.

“Referring to the Minister of Law and Human Rights’ decree as of October 13, 2021, tourist visas can only be granted for those from 19 countries,” said the Immigration DG spokesman Arya Pradhana Anggakara in a written press release on Wednesday, December 1.

Since last October, the Director-General of Immigration has approved 153 requests for tourist visas. Most of them from France, India, and Sweden.

Angga emphasized that the application for a tourism visa requires a guarantor from a travel agency. “The tourist visa is only valid for entry through two airports, namely Hang Nadim in Batam and Ngurah Rai in Denpasar,” he added.

The Immigration Director-General also noted that foreigners who have entered Bali or Batam are not allowed to travel to other cities in Indonesia. Foreign tourists must also take a direct flight from their country of origin to the two regions.

Other than tourist visit visas, the government also approves visa requests for emergency and urgent trips, business trips, and others as stipulated in the Minister of Law and Human Rights’ Decree No. M.HH-03.GR.01.05 of 2021. The application for a visit visa can be made online via the Immigration DG’s official site on visa-online.imigration.go.id
