Barli Asmara Fashion House Brings Disney's Encanto to Life

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In a collaboration with Disney Indonesia, Barli Asmara Fashion House presents a special exhibition inspired by Disney's latest film Encanto. This fashion show features a famous photographer Karina Yasmine and numerous Indonesian celebrities.
"It's an interesting collaboration, as we see that this family has their own characters. Each design for each character is different, and hopefully we can celebrate and respect the differences," said Barli Asmara's Creative Director, Leslie Tobing, Tuesday, Nov. 23.
There are five specifically made dresses inspired by Encanto characters. They are Mirabel, Isabela, Luisa, Dolores and Abuela Alma. These characters were brought to life through a photo session with Karina Yasmine and 5 celebrities as the muse. They are Shenina Cinnamon as Mirabel, Beby Tsabina as Isabela, Yasmin Napper as Luisa, Kiara McKenna as Dolores and Ayushita as Abuela Alma.
According to Leslie, it was quite challenging to create that dresses because they were only given two weeks. In addition, the team have to give a different impression and feature to each of the dress, so the actors can represent each character.
Ethestically, she said that the elements are similar to Barli Asmara's design, with the touch of laces, floral embroidery, and ruffles. As the movie shows a lot of floral features with Colombia's ruffle characteristic.
People can enjoy the fashion creation in a special show titled Disney's "Encanto" Special Exhibition: "Welcome To The Family Madrigal" at the main atrium of Mall Pacific Place Jakarta from November 20, 2021, to January 2, 2022.
