DPR, Govt to Discuss Job Creation Law Revision on December 6

26 November 2021 19:58 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe House of Representatives (DPR) planned to hold a working meeting with the government to discuss the revision of the Job Creation Law or Law No. 11 of 2020, as a follow-up to the Constitutional Court (MK) ruling.

“We will have a meeting with the government on December 6 to discuss some of the main points of the Constitutional Court's decision. We have two years to make improvements,” said the House’s Legislation Body Deputy Chairman, Willy Aditya, at the Parliament Complex, Senayan on Friday, November 26.

Willy said the House also planned to establish a team for supervision. “One of the mandates of the Constitutional Court is that the government should not issue derivative policies in the form of strategic Government Regulations (PP). That is our concern,” he said.

On November 25, the Constitutional Court in its ruling No. 91/PUU-XVIII/2020 declared that the omnibus law contradicts the 1945 Constitution and is conditionally unconstitutional. The court also ordered the government to amend the law within two years.

However, the law would remain in effect until the revisions are made. The court also suspended all strategic actions and policies and dismissed any new regulations related to the law.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the government respected and would abide by the Constitutional Court ruling.
