Govt Urged to Respect MK Verdict on Job Creation Law

26 November 2021 14:32 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - House of Representatives (DPR) member from the PKS faction Jazuli Juwaini on Friday commended the latest Constitutional Court (MK) verdict that deemed the Job Creation Law (UU Cipta Kerja) unconstitutional.

“The PKS faction embraces the MK verdict as it fulfills the public’s yearn for justice against the implementation of the Job Creation Law,” said Juwaini on November 26. “PKS unanimously rejected that Bill as it was discussed by legislators.”

He then urged the government to respect the MK verdict that deemed the law 'conditionally unconstitutional,' Antaranews reported.

The PKS, he added, always views the Job Creation Law has harmed the interest of a large portion of society and professions such as laborers, farmers, fishermen, people with disabilities, and many others.

The MK decided that the law must be fixed within two years and will make it permanently unconstitutional.

Juwaini expects the government to adhere to the MK verdict, and in particular, to suspend all strategic policies and policies with broader impacts. He asked the government not to issue new Job Creation Law derivatives.
