TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Dudung Abdurachman urged the Army task force in Papua to avert from viewing local criminal armed groups (KKB) as enemies but rather approach them as citizens that need to be embraced and educated on the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
“Encourage them to build Papua together as they are countrymen too,” the Army Chief of Staff wrote in a statement on Thursday, November 25, which was initially mentioned in his visit to the East Indonesian region.
In his message, Dudung emphasized that the benchmark for the success of an Army soldier in Papua is when they are loved and admired by the Papuan people.
"Therefore, it is our duty to always care for the Papuan people, so that in the end the Papuan people will love the TNI," said Dudung.
General Dudung Abdurachman will visit the West Papua Kasuari Kodam Headquarters, to meet with soldiers and the Unit Commander and continue his work visits to the Hasanuddin Military Command to meet army soldiers in Makassar, South Sulawesi.
