Jakarta Deputy Governor Looking for Donators to Build Septic Tanks

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Governor of Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria has promised to find donators for the construction of septic tanks for residents' houses. All this time, residents who do not have septic tanks dispose of their fecal waste directly into the river.
"All regional heads will find the solution by gathering the necessary funds," he said today in the City Hall. He explained that the future donators are someone with good financial capability from those neighborhoods. The construction will begin after the fund has been collected.
Among them, a neighborhood in Rambutan has been found lack of septic tanks and to this day, 237 houses there directly dump their wastes into the river.
Rambutan Sub-District Office's Secretary, Suhartono said "People polluting the waters and they didn't realize that it's wrong." Those 237 houses are listed as part of 6 different neighborhood association, and most of them are rented houses.
City official will inspect houses that are located at the edge of Cipinang and Sura river. "Majority of houses that doesn't have septic tanks are owned by someone with a fine financial capability," said Suhartono.
