TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government has issued the complete set of the COVID-19 level 3 public mobility restrictions or PPKM Level 3 rules, including for the tourism sector, that will take effect from December 24, 2021, to January 2, 2022, or during the Christmas and New Year holidays, via the Home Affairs Ministerial Instruction No. 62 of 2021.
Referring to the policy, the government will not close tourist attractions yet limit the number and mobility of visitors. The rules will be valid in favored tourist destinations, including Bali, Bandung, Bogor, Yogyakarta, Malang, Surabaya, and Medan.
Tourist site managers will be required to implement strict health protocols for both officers and visitors. The government will also apply an odd-even traffic policy to organize visits to priority tourist attractions.
Tourists and officers are required to wear face masks, wash hands with soap or sanitizer, maintain distance, reduce mobility, and avoid crowds. The use of the PeduliLindungi mobile app is mandatory to enter and leave tourist attractions, and that only visitors with yellow and green status are allowed to enter.
Tourist site managers must also ensure that there are no crowds and limit the number of visitors to a maximum of 50 percent of the total capacity.
Additionally, the government prohibits celebratory parties with crowds in open or closed areas and the use of loudspeakers that attract crowds. Tourism site managers must also reduce arts and cultural activities, both religious and non-religious events.
