TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 5,724 schools, starting from kindergarten to high schools, in Jakarta have reopened for face-to-face learning or hybrid learning.
“The educational institutions conduct face-to-face learning by implementing strict health protocols in accordance with the regulations,” as read in the letter signed by the Jakarta Education Agency Head Nahdiana on Tuesday, November 23.
The school reopening was started in three phases. 610 schools were first reopened on August 27, followed by 1,530 schools on September 29. The third phase was the reopening of 3,584 schools holding hybrid learning on October 8, 2021.
“Educational institutions that neglect the mandatory health orders will be temporarily suspended from phase 3 limited hybrid learning,” as quoted from Decree No. 883 of 2021.
Jakarta had allowed school activities during the COVID-19 pandemic since August 30, 2021. At that time, the trials or phase-one school reopening were carried out on 610 schools.
Based on the evaluation as of September 22, 2021, seven schools were temporarily closed. Six of them were closed due to the emergence of COVID-19 cases and the other one was caused by a violation of the health protocols during face-to-face learning (PTM).
