TEMPO.CO, JakartaCoordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan received a visit from former British Prime Minister Tony Blair today, November 22, as a follow-up of previous meetings in the UK.

“As a potential constructive partner for the Republic of Indonesia, the 60-minute discussion was not enough to explore his curiosity about the achievements that Indonesia is now making,” said Luhut, as quoted from the caption of his Instagram post on @luhut.pandjaitan, Monday, November 22.

During the meeting, Luhut talked about Indonesia’s past, current, and future projects, such as the downstream of mineral and coal, potential carbon trading, health services, up to the development of the new capital city.

Luhut claimed Blair responded positively to what he explained that Indonesia had a special focus on managing natural resources in a balanced fashion.

“Hearing his response, I hope that Mr. Blair will convey all the good news about Indonesia's progress to the current British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, whom I also met a few weeks ago,” said Luhut.

Luhut Pandjaitan also hoped that what Tony Blair had heard could change his view of Indonesia, which used to be called a second-class country and is now striving to become a first-class country competing with developed countries.
