TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Race 1 of World Superbike (WSBK) at Pertamina Mandalika Circuit has been delayed for one day to Sunday, Nov. 21, following the bad weather on Saturday afternoon.
Race 1 that was initially scheduled to take place at 15:00 Central Indonesia Time must be postponed following the heavy rain that fell nearing the start of the race on Saturday afternoon.
The racers got ready at the grid; they were ready to go but 12 minutes before the race was started, the director announced the postponement due to the bad weather.
At 16:00, the committee decided to cancel the rest of the activities for today, namely the WSBK Race 1 and Race 3 of Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup. "Following the bad weather on Saturday during the Pirelli Indonesian Round at Pertamina Mandalika Street Circuit, the hard decision to postpone the WorldSBK Race 1 to Sunday must be taken."
A new schedule was issued. The WSBK Race 1 will be started at 11:00 on Sunday and Race 2 will be started as scheduled at 15:00 WITA. Both races will see 21 laps.
Meanwhile, Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup will only be followed with one more race, which is Race 3, for 12 laps at 12:30 WITA. And then WorldSupersport Race 2 will start at 13:30 WITA.
"Unfortunately, this (the delay) is resulted at the cancellation of Tissot Superpole Race and IATC Race 2," the WSBK committee remarked.
