TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - During Christmas and New Year holiday, Bali has been among the top destinations for both local and foreign tourists. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Bali's Tourism Office has prepared steps to avoid a surge of cases during the holiday season.

The Acting Officer of Bali's Tourism Office Bagus Pemayun, said that the Touris Office has been preparing to welcome visitors and tighten the security at some tourist sites.

"For foreign tourists, they have to be checked for travel documents, vaccinations certificate, PCR result and they will be taken for quarantine in a hotel," Bagus said.

Additionally, officials also increase security on sites with CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety & Environment Sustainability) certificate. In total, there are 94 sites that has obtained CHSE certificate and they are ready to impose strict health protocols to prevent a new wave of Covid-19 infections.

"Strict protocols from entry point such as preparing a wash basin, body temperature check and mandatory PeduliLindungi application scan on location," said him.

Previously, Bali has prepared to limit visitors to avoid potential crowds that may cause a third wave of Covid-19 infection during Christmas and New Year holidays. However, on the other hand, the province is also the one proposing the idea to reduce foreign tourists' quarantine time to one day and add up countries allowed to visit Bali from 19 to 24.

"Building Bali's tourism is akin to building a house with 5 pillars, academics, business, community, government and media and those 5 must support each other and have the same goal for the growth and create a qualified and sustainable tourism," said Bagus.
