TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said that the world is facing highly complex issues apart from the Covid-19 pandemic, which is climate change.
"It's related to climate change that is feared to cause food crises," said the President during his speech at the Kompas100 CEO Forum virtual event on Thursday, November 18, 2021, as reported by Bisnis.com.
Apart from climate crises, Jokowi said that each and every country in the world is facing global economic inflation and The Fed's tapering off.
"Countries are now muddled by problems related to global supply chain and dependence towards one, two, or three countries. There is also the problem of container scarcities. Nearly all of these are disruptions," said Jokowi.
In order to overcome these challenges, he added, the mitigation of Covid-19 pandemic is an absolute for the entire international community as containing the spread of the virus enables the recovery of the economy.
"The key for 2022 lies in one aspect, which is to control Covid. That is the only key," said President Jokowi. "If not, the economy will come tumbling down again."
