TEMPO.CO, Semarang - Police have examined 13 witnesses to investigate the fire at one of the oil tanks at Pertamina’s oil refinery complex in Cilacap Regency, Central Java. The blaze broke out on Saturday, November 13, at 7:15 local time.
The Central Java Police’s spokesman Senior Commissioner Iqbal Alqudusy said investigators grilled witnesses from internal and external parties of the state-owned oil and gas firm.
“[The witnesses] include the lead electrical engineering officers,” said Iqbal on Wednesday, November 17.
Iqbal said the team from the National Police's Central Forensics Laboratory was still at the scene, checking the remaining fluid from the blaze.
According to him, the investigation is carried out by a joint team from the National Police Headquarters, the Central Java Police, and the Cilacap Resort Police. The remaining objects from the fire have also been cleaned up.
Iqbal asked the public not to speculate on the cause of the fire and wait for the investigation team’s results. “We ask the public to be wise and patient in waiting for the investigation to complete,” he said.
