Supreme Court Reinstates Djoko Tjandra's 4.5 Years Prison Sentence

16 November 2021 22:56 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Supreme Court (MA) on Tuesday has reinstated the prison sentencing for graft convict Djoko Tjandra to 4 years and 6 months, which is level with his initial court sentencing prior to his cassation appeal.

Supreme Court spokesperson Andi Samsan Nganro on Tuesday confirmed this to Tempo.

Djoko Tjandra is a defendant in the ‘red notice bribe’ case and is charged for bribing two police generals, Gen. Napoleon Bonaparte and Brig. Gen. Prasetijo utomo,to revoke his name from the red notice list.

Djoko Tjandra is also charged for bribing former prosecutor Pinangki Sirna Malasari. The Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor) initially sentenced him to 4.5 years imprisonment, which is higher than the prosecutor’s claim of 4 years imprisonment.

However, his prison sentence was reduced by the Jakarta High Court to 3.5 years. Djoko Tjandra filed a cassation appeal to the Supreme Court, which eventually denied his appeal and instead sentenced him to 4.5 in jail.
