TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir said 18US$ from the potential UAE investment of US$32.7 million would be channelled to state-owned enterprises, among them state-owned energy firm Pertamina, state electricity company PLN, and state-owned port operator Pelindo.
Erick said this move sought to support the ongoing transformation process within the three enterprises to accelerate investment, business model innovations, and technology development.
The SOEs Ministry has planned three major projects for the three companies, viz. the development of renewable energy for PLN, the revitalization of Pertamina refineries that would step up its capacity, the development of the nation’s port infrastructure, and the development of digital competitiveness.
“The huge interest and commitment of several global investors and countries in and to Indonesia should be answered by preparing our human resources as human capital so the invested funds and capital can meet their targets. We also have to work on our costs of logistics that remain high,” Erick said in a written statement quoted by Antara on Friday, November 5, 2021.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo met with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in UAE on November 3-4, 2021.
During the meeting, which was also attended by several ministers of the Indonesia Onward 2 Cabinet and UAE ministers and businessmen, UAE conveyed its commitment to investing in Indonesia with a total value of US$32.7 million or equal to Rp457 trillion.
