LRT Project; BPK Audit Finds Discrepancies in Component Specifications

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) in its latest report on the audit on the light rail transit (LRT) Jabodetabek project on Wednesday, said there were discrepancies in the project’s component specification handled by PT INKA, which also produces 31 train carriages for the LRT. 

The report focuses on the  2017-2019 financial management and obedience of state-railway operator Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) and subsidiaries in West Java, Jakarta, Banten, and South Sumatra. 

“There were components that were not in accordance with what was required under the Transportation Ministry’s Decree KP 765 tahun 2017,” the BPK report states on November 3. 

The audit agency found that the LRT’s automatic tight lock coupler was not in accordance with the spec, which should have been an automatic device. They also found discrepancies in the construction of the derailment detection system that has a role as an early detection device for possible derailment. 

There were also many pieces of equipment that were not installed as instructed. In its recommendation, the Supreme Audit Agency called for PT INKA to fix the issues and meet the initial specifications that were agreed upon. 

INKA director of development Agung Sedaju to Tempo claims the company did not change the specifications of the LRT project and argues that the BPK report are still disputed.
