TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of El Tari Meteorology Station Kupang, Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Agung Sudiono Abadi has recently gave warning to East Nusa Tenggara residents. He warned them to watch out for the impact of an extreme weather over the next week.
"Beware the potential of extreme weather such as heavy rain with thunder and strong winds over the next week," Agung said in Kupang on Wednesday, November 3 2021.
He said that it was the weather forecast from November 2 to 8 of 2021. "Extreme weather may occur in the afternoon," he added. Agung explained that the increase in convective cloud-forming potential in Indonesia, including NTT, can trigger mild to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
He explained the extreme conditions may cause hydrometeorological disasters such as floods and landslides. Aside from that, strong winds and tornadoes that occur may cause trees and buildings to collapse.
Agung reminded the residents to always monitor BMKG forecasts through apps, and also to check on the BMKG official website or just call them on (0380)-881-613 or contact them via WhatsApp on 0811-3940-4264.
